Artist Statement

I have always been drawn to detail in my art. In Junior High, and High School I excelled in Drafting classes. Then, while I was getting my art degree I also completed a one year certificate in drafting. The last day of class, the instructor announced to the class that this was the last year with manual drawing and the move to computer drafting was the future. Not my style! I loved the precision and detail that was required to complete a project by hand, not on a computer screen.

My paintings are a reflection of the detail that I embrace and I continue to display it in them. These abstract pieces are a journey of 30 years of continuing to advance my style. I work with acrylic paints, markers, inks and metal leaf to comprise my paintings. Recently my paintings have contained areas or compartments that allow me to put in the detail that I enjoy doing. Those details are a result of how my feelings are at the time...sometimes whimsical, and sometimes stressful, but always therapeutic!
